Suffering over 500 years of turbulence in their motherland. Cham culture has been vanishing, reduced to forgotten rituals, melodies, even mother tongue, but the traces still remain much in language, cuisine, craft, architect, music… shaping a large part of Vietnamese cultural foundation.

 

"Palao" means “letting go.” "Palao" presents a question. Of how these future generations Cham and Vietnamese deal with their traumatic past, behave towards their own native culture.  

 

Most of Palao’s young performers were from different paths of life such as farmers, teachers, poets, martial artists, and even wanderers, some are Hip-hop dancers and traditional musicians.
